The Annual Presentation of Awards event this year took place at Addington High School in the afternoon of Saturday 5th July in front of quite a large number of parents, grandparents and other spectators.
Our Guests of Honour included Rob Jeal our former Chairman and now an Assistant Director at Gillingham F.C., Barrie & Gladys Semark who were managers of one of our teams when the league was formed in 1977; Barrie & Gladys sponsored the league this season by providing substitutes jackets for all twelve teams.
Also present was Steven Deegan one of our former Arrows team players; Steven was a team member in the 1980s, was awarded the ‘Bobby Jeal’ trophy in 1988/89 and the following year the ‘Players’ Player’ award. Steven was so highly regarded by the league management committee that the Academy League Championship trophy was re-named in his honour. It was very pleasing that after nearly twenty years Steven and his partner Amie were able to come along and present some of the awards.
Another of our sponsors - Carris Construction - was represented by Barry Bryant who brought along a replica cheque for £1000 for the league with the promise that they would try to arrange a similar fund raising match in the ‘08-’09 season.
