The ‘Tommy Russell Memorial Cup’ is awarded each year to the Premier League team that wins the annual Cup competition, there is a similar event for the Academy League teams.
 This award is named for a former Little League player (pictured left) in the Arrows team who was tragically involved in a fatal car accident in 1990, Tommy had been a recipient of our ‘Bobby Jeal’ award but had left the league at the time of his death.
These Cup matches are usually played at the end of the season as a competition separate from the League Championships, it is therefore possible for the same team to win both events. In the case of the Premier teams this has happened several times with Rangers achieving the ‘double’ on four occasions, Colts three times, Lions twice and Kestrels once.
The six Premier teams are drawn into two groups of three with each team playing the other teams in the same group once only on a league basis, the winner of each group going forward to the Final. The Academy teams are similarly drawn into two groups but this year for the first time they have been subject to a separate draw.
The following tables show how the teams have been drawn out for the 2005/06 Cup Competition, the matches are provisionally scheduled to be played on a ‘Super Cup’ Saturday in April depending on the progress of our National Squad. The winners of each group will go through to the Cup Final which has been provisionally scheduled for the same week-end as the F.A. Cup Final but this date is also subject to change, so watch this space!
The draw for the 2007/08 Cup Competition took place on the 15th March 2008 and each team place is shown in the tables below. The date for this event has now been fixed as Saturday 3rd May with the first games in both the Premier and Academy leagues kicking off at 9.30 am. The Cup Finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday 17th May at times not yet fixed.
