New Addington Little League Football

Premier League History:

Our League programme usually commences in early September when the players have returned to school after the summer holidays, there is only one match on the first day and this is a special event where last season’s League Champions play the Cup Winners for the Anniversary Cup. This year (2005) our two ‘Charity Shield’ type matches will be played on Saturday 10th September and the league programme proper kicks-off the following Saturday - 17th September.

The league season is divided into two halves with the six teams playing each other twice in each half season. The winners of each half season then play-off for the League Championship. If the same team has won both halves a play-off is not necessary and the Runner-up is that team with next highest points total over both half seasons. The main reason the season is divided into two separate halves is that any team not doing well in the first half then has the opportunity, which the fresh start provides, of improving it’s performance in the second half and this is borne out by the following report!
